Nylon

Composition

Created from coal, water, and oxygen, these elements are combined with a polymer to make hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid (diacid).

Cleaning Considerations

  1. Aqueous substances such as food and beverages will stain nylon if it is not protected with a stain-resistant blocker.
  2. Nylon may melt from the heat from the steam.

Chemical Considerations

  1. This stain-resistant blocker is incompatible with strong alkalines, cationic surfactants, and optical brighteners.
  2. Strong acids will likely dissolve or melt the fibers.
  3. The material may lose its color from strong reducing and oxidizing agents such as alkaline and bleach.
